About the Artist
Q: Who are you? A: My name is Michel Bourque. I am the owner-creator of the Heartworks Design Studio. Q: What are you passionate about? A: I have always maintained two active preoccupations in Life: Remembering God and my Artwork. The latter is a reflection on my spiritual progress. Q: What is the Heartworks Design Studio? A: Heartworks is my spiritual voice. I make Artwork and Illustrations that talk about matters of the Heart. I call it “Art with a Heart”. Q: Why the Heart? A: It is the most common and universal spiritual symbol. Q: What is your technique? A: My technique is simple: I assemble and paste various images, materials or objects together to create something inspiring and timeless. I collect fabrics, photos, clipart, sayings, drawings, rocks, seashells, driftwood, anything that “talks“ to me. When I create a collage it has to be inspirational and comforting to my spirit. Q: What is your favorite book? A: A Course in Miracles. Q: What is your favorite musical piece? A: Ikebukuro by Brian Eno. Q: What is your creative background? A: I was born with the gift of Vision. I started painting on my own when I was 14 years old. I always had a “knack” for assembling things in an artistic way. I can’t draw as such but I have a high sense of order and balance. Q: Who inspires you? A: My two cats, Big Puss and Little Puss. Q: What is your favorite quotation? A: “Happiness is the only good. The place to be happy is here. The time to be happy is now. The way to be happy is to make others so”.
